Finding Beauty Within Change
Amidst adversity I have found that nature has always found a way to continue to thrive. In the same way, humans have also managed to grow and adapt in the face of great change. This collection's three groups all focus on the beauty of transformation.
Reform.
This prom group captures the spirit of a teen on the cusp of great change. With growing comes redefining one's identity, and this is represented with the formation of a geode. The heat and minerals create great beauty just as the change of growing up brings a new identity. This group plays with the juxtaposition of structure and softness, jewel tones and black, as well as suits and femininity.
Rebirth.
This streetwear group is meant to capture the adaptability and change that designers excel at. Streetwear is constantly being reinvented, and the use of layering and different materials was chosen to depict that. The symbolism for this group is a cocoon forming into a moth- it has the same substance but emerges completely new and beautiful.
Regrowth.
The movie and music industry has always given society a welcome escape from the harsh struffles of reality. In a world that had to stop turning from national tragedy, the persevering existence of the entertainment industry is a welcome miracle. The images of wildflowers growing following the harshness of a fire is inspired by the charred hills outside my home. In celebration of this perseverance lies this red carpet collection.
